On Friday the 4th of May Fulford School sent 12 students from year 8 and 9 to the York Science and Technology Challenge day at the University of York. Students were split into teams of four comprising of two students from two schools. There were four challenges to compete in including creating and programming robots to solving a crime using forensic science.
Students were assessed in their problem solving, planning and team work skills. Prizes were awarded for the most successful team in each challenge and the best overall team throughout the day.
The day was enjoyed by all; students from Fulford School did exceptionally well, winning three awards in total. Two students Stephen Thompson and Paula Gomez were part of the overall winning team along with two students from George Pindar School (Scarbough). This team will go on to represent the area in the regional finals in autumn.
