This figure will be even higher once we include College results and i Media)
In addition to these superb individual performances there are two other points worth mentioning. First of all is the very narrow gap of 5 percentage points between % 5+A-C and 5+A*-C including English and Maths when the national difference is about 16 percentage points. This is all the more important as this is the passport to further education and it opens the door to a host of opportunities for young people.
The second feature is our average points score of 473 which builds on last year’s record of 433. This means that on average all students have obtained an additional grade B in a subject compared to last year. At our last Ofsted inspection this figure, rather than the 5+A*-Cs was the one that most interested our inspectors. This is because they said it reflects the work we are doing with students of all abilities, especially at the higher and lower ends of the spectrum, rather than just concentrating on those on the “C/D” borderline.
