Photography

The Photography department aims to develop students’ designing and making skills by working through a range of projects, using a variety of techniques.  The subject is taught by enthusiastic teachers who have a wide variety of photographic, design and presentation skills, including digital photographic skills, and arts-based skills, meaning that students are well-informed and supported when making their chosen outcomes.

In Year 12, students will be taught about photographic techniques, terminology and styles, as well as researching inspiration photographers and artists.  They will then use this knowledge to work on two projects, each of which is entered as a part of their final assignment.

In Year 13, students will continue to develop their and knowledge and skills in photography by practising different techniques and researching traditional and contemporary practice.  Work is carried out on two more assignments, one of which features a written element highlighting research carried out into a topic of the student’s choice.
